What We Do

The North Loop Neighborhood Association is a proactive, community based organization dedicated to improving quality of life for all those within our boundaries through service, advocacy, and community-building.

The neighborhood is centered around North Loop Boulevard, and is bounded by 51st Street, Lamar Boulevard, Airport Boulevard, and Koenig Lane. There are approximately 1,400 households in the neighborhood. There is also a thriving local business and restaurant scene in the area on North Loop Boulevard, Airport Boulevard, and Lamar Boulevard.

North Loop Neighborhood Official Boundaries

The NLNA represents and serves all residents (including renters!), landowners, and businesses within the bounds of the North Loop Neighborhood.

  • Most importantly, we develop a sense of community. Through monthly meetings, group activities, history walks, and social gatherings, we give neighbors an opportunity to meet often and get to know each other.
  • We bring neighbors together to keep informed on local issues, create a sense of place, and envision the future of North Loop. Some of our activities include:
    • Advocating for green space, sidewalks, traffic calming, and walkability
    • Bringing neighbors together for quarterly Waller Creek clean-ups and maintaining Bruning Green with regular mowing and planting
    • Working with stakeholders, including developers and city officials, to ensure that neighborhood development and infrastructure meet residents’ current and long-term needs
    • Inviting our City Council representatives and guest speakers to present on topics ranging from housing affordability to maintaining our urban canopy
    • Adding our voice as representatives of the neighborhood on key issues, like the I-35 expansion, that impact both our neighbors and the larger Austin community
  • We can help with conflict resolution. We will work with you and your neighbors to resolve conflicts to everyone’s benefit. We will be very discreet, and if you wish, protect your anonymity.
  • We have a history of success addressing problems and eliminating sources of serious crime in our neighborhood, including by supporting the Neighborhood Watch in our area.

Why Join?

The North Loop Neighborhood Association depends on the involvement of a wide and diverse range of residents and businesses. Your priorities and perspective are what sustain this organization and give North Loop a crucial voice with potential developers and City officials.

NLNA membership allows residents and community members to:

  • Have a voice – and a vote – on key issues that shape the future of our neighborhood and Austin at large, from new developments to transit investments
  • Strengthen social bonds, along with community resilience and safety, by getting to know neighbors
  • Stay informed on relevant neighborhood and City projects
  • Support greenspaces that benefit the neighborhood, like Bruning Green beautification and Waller Creek clean-ups, through your annual dues

We hope you will consider joining us! Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at The Commune, 101 North Loop Blvd E, Austin, Texas 78751.

To be a voting member who has a voice in making NLNA decisions, residents need only pay dues of $5.00 per year. Non-resident property owners pay dues of $10.00 per year and business owners pay $25.00 per year. By intentionally keeping dues low, we hope to avoid any barriers to your participation.
